LASER HAIR REMOVAL
WHAT IS IT?
Laser Hair Removal is the process of removing unwanted hair by means of exposure to laser light which destroys the hair follicle. At AAC, we utilize the Gentlemax ProTM– a dual platform laser from Syneron Candela that encompasses both the Alexandrite laser and the 1064nm Nd:YAG laser, allowing us to treat all skin types.
Treatment is done by guiding a laser over treatment areas with a small handpiece. Each laser pulse is preceded with a short pulse of cooling spray. Some patients may feel slight discomfort with each pulse– like a hot rubber band snapping the skin, but this decreases with each session as the hair is removed.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Permanent hair reduction is achieved through a series of consistent treatments, every 4-8 weeks depending on the area of the body. Most clients need an average of 9-12 treatments, though it is dependent on the individual. More treatments may be needed for hormonal areas or if a hormone disorder is present.
Multiple treatments are necessary as it is most effective when hairs are in the active growth phase. We like to estimate that each time we see you, there are probably about 10% of hairs in the growth cycle.
HOW CAN I PREPARE?
Avoid plucking, waxing, or electrolysis* for a minimum of 3-4 weeks prior to treating as we need the hair follicle intact. Hair should be removed by shaving the night prior to avoid irritation. The area being treated should not be exposed to sunlight or tanning booth for 4-6 weeks prior to treatment. Antibiotics should be avoided within 7 days of treatment.
Patients can purchase a topical anesthetic prior to treatment, but it must be purchased in advance and applied 45 minutes prior to treatment.

*Electrolysis is the only option for clients with red, white, gray or blonde hair.

We offer new clients an introductory price for their first package. After that, all our existing clients can take advantage of our promotions offered four times per year. Each promotion runs for a month long, and clients can pick up treatment packages for a discounted price.
Other payment options include a la carte pricing, where you may pay per treatment, or our maintenance single treatment pricing once you’ve had nine treatments on one area.
